# Connect Claude

Hostly is not yet listed in the Claude connector directory. You add it as a custom connector at
[claude.ai](https://claude.ai). The connector is then also available in the Claude desktop and
mobile apps.

## Free, Pro, and Max plans

1. Open [Customize → Connectors](https://claude.ai/customize/connectors).

2. Click **Add custom connector**.

3. Enter a name, for example `Hostly`, and the server URL:

   ```text
   https://api.hostly.ninja/mcp
   ```

4. Keep the default authentication settings. Hostly does not need an OAuth client ID or secret.

5. Click **Add**, then **Connect**, and sign in with your Hostly account.

On the Free plan, you can add one custom connector.

## Team and Enterprise plans

On Team and Enterprise plans, an organization Owner adds the connector once for everybody:

1. Open [Organization settings → Connectors](https://claude.ai/admin-settings/connectors).
2. Select **Add**, then **Custom**. If Claude asks for the connector type, choose **Web**.
3. Enter the server URL `https://api.hostly.ninja/mcp` and click **Add**.

Each member then opens **Customize → Connectors**, finds Hostly with the **Custom** label, clicks
**Connect**, and signs in with their own Hostly account.

## Use Hostly in a chat

Click the **+** button in the chat input, open **Connectors**, and make sure Hostly is turned on.
Then ask Claude, for example:

```text
Show me the logs of the service "api" in my workspace.
```

Claude asks for your approval before it uses a Hostly tool. Only choose **Always allow** for tools
that do not change anything, such as listing services or reading logs.

## Claude Code

If you use [Claude Code](https://code.claude.com), add Hostly from your terminal:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http hostly https://api.hostly.ninja/mcp
```

Then start Claude Code, run `/mcp`, select `hostly`, and sign in with your Hostly account in the
browser window that opens.

## Troubleshooting

* **Hostly does not appear in the chat:** Turn it on under **+ → Connectors**.
* **Sign-in fails:** Remove the connector under **Customize → Connectors** and add it again.
* **A tool call is rejected:** Your Hostly account lacks the required permission in that
  workspace. Ask a workspace member with the right permissions to adjust your role.
