Connect ChatGPT

Hostly is not yet listed in the ChatGPT app directory. You add it as a custom MCP server in the ChatGPT web app at chatgpt.com.

INFO

Custom MCP servers are a developer feature in ChatGPT. On Business, Enterprise, and Edu plans, a workspace admin may need to allow them first. ChatGPT may adjust the labels below over time.

Add Hostly

  1. Open Plugins in ChatGPT.

  2. Select the + button and choose Add custom MCP server. If the + button only offers a file upload, turn on Developer mode under Settings → Security and sign-in first.

  3. Enter a name, for example Hostly, and a short description such as Manage Hostly workspaces and services.

  4. Under Connection, enter the server URL:

    text
    https://api.hostly.ninja/mcp
  5. Keep OAuth as the authentication method.

  6. Review the risk warning and confirm that you want to continue.

  7. Create the plugin and sign in with your Hostly account when ChatGPT asks you to.

ChatGPT then shows the Hostly tools it discovered.

Use Hostly in a chat

Start a new chat, type @, and select Hostly. You can also mention Hostly by name in your request:

text
Use Hostly to show me the status of all services in my workspace.

Temporary chats do not support connected plugins.

Codex CLI

If you use the Codex CLI, add Hostly from your terminal:

bash
codex mcp add hostly --url https://api.hostly.ninja/mcp
codex mcp login hostly

The login command opens your browser, where you sign in with your Hostly account.

Troubleshooting

  • ChatGPT says it has no Hostly tool: Select Hostly with @ or mention it by name.
  • Sign-in fails or tools are missing: Open the Hostly entry under Plugins and select Refresh. If that does not help, remove it and add it again.
  • A tool call is rejected: Your Hostly account lacks the required permission in that workspace. Ask a workspace member with the right permissions to adjust your role.
